Google’s New School Time Feature to Help Curb Excessive Phone Use in Children

Parents today are often concerned about their children spending excessive time on smartphones or other devices, as it can negatively impact their educational activities.

To address this concern, Google has introduced a new feature called School Time for Android smartphones.

This feature allows parents to restrict various functionalities on their children’s devices for specified periods.

Whether it’s during school hours or any other time, parents can use this feature to limit their children’s screen time.

Parents can utilize the School Time feature on their children’s Android phones, tablets, and smartwatches through the Family Link parental controls app.

However, Google has yet to clarify which specific Android devices will support this feature.

According to the company, once this feature is enabled, parents can decide which apps are available on their children’s phones, and only allow text messages and calls from specific contacts.

This helps ensure that children’s attention is not diverted by mobile devices.

It is worth noting that Family Link is a Google portal that allows parents to control activities on their mobile devices.

The Family Link app was redesigned in 2022.
