Google Prepares to Remove Thousands of Apps from Play Store

California: Technology company Google is preparing to remove thousands of inactive apps from its Play Store, with implementation set to begin next month.

According to a report from a foreign news agency, Google has confirmed the deletion of Play Store apps, with only six weeks remaining for the process to start.

The report states that search engine giant Google is clearly on a mission to enhance Android’s privacy and security to the level of iPhone.

To ensure high standards for user experience, the company has updated its spam and low-functionality policies.

The new policy targets applications that are ‘static without app-specific functionality,’ ‘contain very little content,’ or are ‘designed to do nothing.’ This includes text-only apps, single wallpaper apps, and apps that fail to engage users. Additionally, apps that crash or do not install properly will be removed from the platform.
